SMS Consent & Opt-In
heyAstra collects explicit consent before sending any SMS message. We use two opt-in methods, described below.

Method 1 — Website Opt-In (Account Alerts)
Customers create a heyAstra account at heyastra.is/signup. The registration form includes an optional Mobile Phone field. When a phone number is entered, a consent checkbox appears displaying the language shown below. The user must check the box and submit the form to opt in. No phone number is enrolled in SMS without this affirmative action.

Each consent is logged with a timestamp and IP address for compliance audit purposes.
Method 2 — Verbal In-Call Opt-In (Caller Confirmations)
When a caller phones a heyAstra-equipped business and the AI receptionist offers a follow-up text (e.g., appointment confirmation, address, quote summary), the AI obtains explicit verbal consent before sending. The exact script is coded directly into the AI's system prompt:
"Would it be okay if I sent you a quick text confirmation to this number? You'll be able to reply STOP at any time to opt out, and standard message and data rates may apply."
The AI proceeds only if the caller answers with a clear affirmative ("yes," "sure," "okay," etc.). If the caller declines, hesitates, or asks a question, no SMS is sent. After consent is granted, the AI confirms with: "Great — you'll get a text from us shortly. Reply HELP if you have any questions, or STOP to unsubscribe."
Every consent exchange is preserved in the call recording and transcript, retained for at least 12 months and available for carrier audit on request.

Types of Messages
- Account alerts — trial expiry, usage warnings, subscription status (web opt-in users).
- Security notifications — password reset confirmations (web opt-in users).
- Appointment confirmations — sent to callers who verbally agreed during a call.
- Business information — address, hours, or details requested during the call.
- Quote / estimate summaries — pricing details discussed during the call.
heyAstra does not send promotional, marketing, or third-party advertising messages.
How to Opt Out
You may opt out of heyAstra SMS messages at any time:
- Reply STOP to any heyAstra message.
- Email support@heyastra.is with subject "SMS Opt-Out".
After opting out, you receive one final confirmation text and no further messages unless you re-subscribe by replying START.

Data Sharing
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Phone numbers and consent records are excluded from any third-party data sharing. They are used solely to deliver the messages the recipient requested.
